Grateful to everyone.
Cristiano Ronaldo posted this on social media after playing the last match of the season for Al Nasr the night before. Since seeing that post, fans have been curious – so where is Ronaldo’s next destination?
Since Al Nasr did not qualify to play in the FIFA Club World Cup, there have been rumors for a few days that Ronaldo could leave the club at the end of the season. Several media outlets, citing sources close to Ronaldo, have reported that the 40-year-old forward wants to leave Al Nasr for a club that will play in the Club World Cup starting in the United States next June. The latest news from Spanish sports daily AS has another name – Monterrey. This Mexican club is said to be very interested in getting Ronaldo. They want to bring the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on a short-term contract (one month).
Is Ronaldo going to a Mexican club?
Al Hilal, Botafogo, Wydad and Monterrey – all four clubs have qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup from their respective continents. Among them, TransferMarket is currently putting Monterrey ahead. The website, which is based on football transfers, statistics and information, said that the maximum probability of Ronaldo going to Monterrey is 34%, and the probability of going to Botafogo is 30%. The Monterrey club is owned by Mexican multinational soft drinks and retail company Femsa. It is the world’s largest cola bottling group and the fifth largest company in Mexico in terms of revenue. So the club should have no problem paying Ronaldo a hefty fee. What’s more, Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Ramos is currently playing for Monterrey. Ramos is trying to bring Ronaldo to his club, according to another Spanish sports daily, Marca.
